Board Update #77

I am passing along the text of a "Things You Should Know" released
this morning by Steve O'Donnell. It provides some additional detail on
the announcement that I passed along to you on Friday concerning Ken Hull's
return to the Board of Directors and Bob Pfeffer's assignment as Interim
Executive Director for CAM.
It also announces some significant changes in the implementation of the
amenity program and I would like to add some comments to those of
Steve. First, this change happened in a great way. Working with
organizations and individuals in the community, the resident board members
developed a proposal that we believed would strengthen the amenity program
announced by Ken Hull in November of 2002. We then worked up a
professional presentation and shared it with Ken during one of our regularly
scheduled meetings with him. He and Steve O'Donnell received the ideas
in a positive way and proceeded to evaluate the proposal from a scheduling
and affordability point of view. Last Wednesday, during another of our
regular meetings, Ken told us that Pulte had formally approved the changes
and showed us the changes in schedule that would be necessary. From my
point of view, here are the benefits of the changes described in Steve's
Things You Should Know:
1. There will be no major disruption in Pinckney Hall operations as
part of the implementation of the amenity program. This is a great
benefit and it parallels the decision to build the Argent III Center
before expanding the present Fitness Center.
2. This approach will allow us to improve the way in which
performances are presented so that both the performers and the audience
benefit by moving this capability to the new Activities Building where we
can start with a "blank sheet of paper"
3. This approach will also give us much greater flexibility in event
scheduling in the future.
I won't attempt to get into details as we plan to do that at the April board
meeting. I will echo Steve's comments that this really was a win for
everyone and it came about in the right way.
