Board Update #107 [2005/02/10]

Hi Folks:

Please be advised that the Board of Directors has, by Unanimous Written Consent, passed a resolution pertaining to Revised Pool Rules.  As you should be aware, a motion regarding this subject was removed from the agenda of the January 27, 2005, Board Meeting [see minutes as a pop-up here].  At that time, Ken Hull, President of the Community Association Board of Directors announced that further revisions would be made once the issues raised in the discussions at the Board Meeting were addressed.  This Revised Pool Policy incorporates the results of those discussions.

As additional background, please note that the Board desired to address a new pool policy based on a recommendation by the Fitness Director, and a subsequent proposal by the Fitness Advisory Committee.  The
recommendation and proposal were predicated on the opening of our third outdoor pool, located at the Hidden Cypress Golf and Recreation Facility.  (If you want to review the process for developing the policy, please refer to Board Update #104 dated January 17, 2005 [as a pop-up here].)

The new policy leaves the Riverbend and Barataria indoor and outdoor pools with the schedule currently in use.  The policy permits the Hidden Cypress pool to be used by children on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings.  In effect, this schedule increases the facilities available to children while ensuring that a deep water pool is available to adults at all times.  It also allows for the use of one of our pools (Hidden Cypress) to children on a more limited basis than the other pools to allow more availability for adult use at that facility.

[Note: The statement of the policy, rules, and procedures given in the Board Update is omitted. They are given in the TYSK on  the same subject. To view that, browse as a pop-up here. --Ed.]

In formulating the Pool Policy, rules and procedures, the board considered the following:

  1. Residents wish to use the pools most convenient to where they live.
  2. Residents wish to have the majority of pool time reserved for adult use only.
  3. Residents wish for their invited guests to be able to use whichever community pool is most appropriate to their swimming ability.
  4. Residents support the exclusion of individuals who are not invited guests of residents.
