Hi Folks,
Next Tuesday, July 12, 2005, the resident board members, under Karen's
leadership, are sponsoring the first ever Committee Fair in Pinckney
Hall from 1-4 PM. Our intent is simple; we want to expose as many
residents as possible to the volunteer leadership opportunities in the
community, predominantly with the board-appointed committees.
Historically, residents have been expected to seek out committees of
interest on their own. We want to make that process much easier.
Board-appointed committees, along with neighborhood committees, the
Inter-Club Council, the Safety and Service Team and the Board of
Directors all represent opportunities for residents to assume positions
of leadership and help shape the future of the community. We want
to make it easy for you to learn about what these organizations actually
do, where you might have an interest and how to proceed if you want to
volunteer your services for the good of the community.
The Committee Fair will be organized very much like the Club Fairs that
are held every year, that is tables will be set up by organization and
you will have the opportunity to chat with current members of the
committees as well as the other organizations mentioned above to learn
about what they do. There are no less than 40 positions which will
come open on the various board-appointed committees this fall and one of
those slots may be the perfect fit for you.
Come and check us out. In appreciation for letting us tell you
about these opportunities, we'll offer refreshments and door prizes and
get you in out of the heat.
Karen, Al and I hope to see you there.
