Board Update #116 [2005/07/15]

Hi Folks,

The Board of Directors met in a quarterly workshop on Thursday, July 14.  Here is what we discussed:
  1. We have received a variety of comments regarding the proposed changes to the community rules.  All were discussed and some of these suggestions have been incorporated into the overall proposal that will be submitted for a vote at the board meeting on July 28.  These additional changes will be posted in Pinckney Hall by the end of the day on Tuesday, July 19.  Remember that residents wishing to speak for or against the overall proposal to change the community rules must sign up prior to when the board meeting convenes at 10 AM on Thursday, July 28.
  2. The board considered recommendations from the Fitness Advisory Committee regarding guest fees for the use of community amenities.  Based on these recommendations, the board will propose the following policy regarding guest fees:
  • Guests will be defined as anyone who does not possess a valid Activity Card.
  • Guests under the age of 16 years are not allowed to use the fitness center equipment. Guests of age 16 years or older may use the equipment in either of the fitness centers for a fee of $5.00 for all day.    Guests must present a valid Guest ID card and pay the fee at the reception desk before using the equipment. Children under the age of 16 years may play tennis with an adult without fee. Guests of age 16 years or older may play tennis on the community courts for a fee of $10.00 per two hour session per person. Guests must present a valid Guest ID card and pay the fee at the reception desk at the Purrysburg Fitness Center before proceeding to the courts to play.  Guests playing in an approved tournament or approved league with reciprocal privileges are exempt from the fee.  Tournaments and league events must be approved by the Executive Director.

The proposed guest policy will take effect October 1, 2005.

The same provisions for speaking for and against apply.

  1. We reviewed progress against 2005 Goals and Objectives.  I'll be making a presentation on this in the board meeting.
  2. We do not expect to finalize the procedures and guidelines for room rental and catering for another couple of weeks and we will approve the final version at that time.
  3. The resident's recommendations for design of the expansion of the Craft Center were officially delivered from CAM to the developer.  We also looked at the final drawing for the Sports Park.  The resident's recommendations for the requirements for the Activity Building will be presented to the developer on Monday, July 18.
  4. Bob Mahnke is in the process of securing quotes on the Community Association insurance package.  We are also close to resolving the issues regarding insurance for paid instructors in response to questions raised by the ICC leadership.
  5. The action plan to resolve the issues raised by the residents of the Coastal Village Neighborhood was reviewed.  The villa insurance issue will be addressed by the insurance quote process already under way.  Pulte construction will conduct a joint inspection with CAM to determine which specific villa trim repairs are their responsibility.
  6. Activation of the Activity Card controlled gate at the Hidden Cypress pool is imminent.  The wiring is in place at the Barataria Pool.  The fence for the Riverbend Pool is complete.
