Board Update #122 [2005/09/30]

Hi There:

As you know from previous Board Updates, the Board recommends various agenda items at the Workshops and the Board Meetings.   The following are items from previous agendas that have been attended to recently.

We have changed insurance brokers as part of our attempt to secure favorable service and rates for the association.  The new broker, Carswell Insurance, is locally based and is the broker of record for many of our neighboring plantations, and we believe the Board's recommendation to make this move at this time should enable us to work more closely with our insurance carriers as we move forward.  Carswell's  first task is to review our current coverage and our risks and then to make recommendations to the Board relative to the necessary coverage.

The Hidden Cypress facility has now joined Pinckney Hall as having wireless capabilities for computer users. [Note: This work should be credited to the efforts of the Sun City Computer Club spearheaded by past Pres. Phillip Shuppel with the much needed support from Jody Dorrell, CAM Director of Facilities Maintenance, and "Doc" Williams of Davidson Cable. The cable modem and internet access were contributed by Davidson; the router was contributed by the computer club, and Phillip and Rich de Asla did the installation, including router security. The previous work at Pinckney was accomplished in much the same way. -Ed.]

The access control for the Riverbend Pool is now installed and will be placed into service next week.  Residents will need their Amenity Cards to enter the swimming pool at the Riverbend facility.

Sun Screen material has been installed above the trellis structures at the Hidden Cypress Pool.

The work for converting the screened porch at Hidden Cypress to a more permanent facility has begun.  Upon completion the porch will be heated and air conditioned for year-'round use.

We have finalized the agreement with Intelli-Communications [IntelliCommunities] for an official Sun City Website and hope to have it operative by year-end.

New signs have been ordered for each of the pools to ensure that all of the relevant information is consistent.
