Board Update #123 [2005/10/12]

Hi Folks,

The Board of Directors met in a workshop on Wednesday, October 12.  The following summarizes the meeting:

  1. The 2006 Budget proposal will be presented to the community by the Finance Committee at a meeting to be held in Pinckney Hall at 8:30 AM on Thursday, October 20.  The meeting will be taped for re-broadcast on Channel 50 at 4:00 PM on 10/20, 10/21, 10/22, 10/23, 10/24, 10/25 and 10/26.  Following questions and comments from the Neighborhood Representatives and the residents at large, the Finance Committee will decide whether or not to recommend approval of the budget proposal by the board at the October 27 meeting of the Board of Directors.  This will be the only presentation of the budget proposal to the community at large.
  2. The Community Association Annual Meeting/Town Meeting will be held early in November.  The date is a little fluid right now but we'll give you plenty of notice.   Following the mandatory actions required at the Annual Meeting, the Town Meeting will convene.  Following a review of results against 2005 Goals and Objectives, the floor will be opened to questions and comments from the residents on any area relative to Community Association operations.  This event will also be televised on Channel 50.
  3. Procedures for implementation of the guest fees approved at the July board meeting were reviewed.  These procedures will be announced in the November issue of Sunsations and will go into effect November 1, 2005.
  4. The Resident board members presented a proposal for appointments to the board-appointed committees to go into effect November 1, 2005.  These appointments will be presented for a vote at the October Board of Directors Meeting on Thursday, October 27.
  5. A proposal by the Safety and Services Team for extensive reorganization of front gate operations was reviewed.  Management was directed to proceed with this project.
  6. A proposal to deal with short-term shortages in office space in Pinckney Hall using modular offices was reviewed and management was directed to proceed with this project.
  7. Management was directed to develop a proposal for multiple owner use of an RV lot.
  8. A newspaper shelter similar to the one at Pinckney Hall will be built at the Hidden Cypress Center once the parking lot is complete
  9. Installation of the traffic light on Hwy. 278 is lagging because of bureaucratic requirements with the State.
We'll publish the Board of Directors Meeting agenda once it has been finalized.
