Board Update #136 [2006/03/03]

Hi Folks,

The last several Board Updates have been posted on the new community web site.  Once the web site is officially launched this month, it is our intent to discontinue distributing the updates via e-mail.  The e-mail list has become so large that it has become extremely cumbersome to manage.  We get 25-30 "bouncebacks" every time we send an update as a result of residents changing their e-mail addresses and not telling us.  In addition, simply adding new addresses is a cumbersome job and it just isn't time-effective for a board member to continue administering this network.

We won't make this change until we are satisfied that the web site is up an working smoothly.  However, I have personally accessed the updates on the web site many times over the last few weeks and everything looks fine.

Therefore, if you wish to continue to have access to the Board Updates, you need to set up your account on the web site.  It's easy to do.  Simply go to www.oursuncityhiltonhead.net and that will put you on the home page of the web site.  At the upper left hand corner, you will find boxes for user name and password.  Under user name, enter your name as your first name.last name followed by @oursuncityhiltonhead.net, e.g. john.doe@oursuncityhiltonhead.net.  Under password, enter the word password.  You will then be taken to a new page where your user name will already appear in a user name box.  You'll have to type the word password into the password box one more time and then you can set and confirm a new password.  You'll then be asked to confirm acceptance the terms and conditions for using the web site and you're done.

Once you're on the home page as a registered user, click on Community along the left margin and you will be taken to the Community Page.  The will be a Documents section in the lower right hand corner and that is where you will find the Board Updates.

The principal drawback to this approach is that you will have to periodically check the web site to see if a new update has been published.  Hopefully, you will be using the web site for other purposes regularly and checking for updates will be painless.

We'll give you at least one more "heads up" when this change is imminent but you really need to get your account set up now so that you don't miss any updates.

Thanks for your patience as we work our way through this.

Jerry
