Policy 0210.6 Needs Clarification! Needs Updating! Needs to be re-written!

 

The Board of Directors heard all of these comments from residents in attendance at the October 9, 2008 Workshop. The subject of course was Board Policy No. 0210.6 otherwise known as the Solicitation and Lower Mailbox Policy. According to Derek Morgan, President of the Board, this policy which was adopted six years ago was in fact due for a major review.

 

Perhaps more than anything else there were two themes heard at the meeting. The first was that the policy needs to better reflect the current needs and efforts of Sun City Chartered Clubs and their financial responsibilities. The second theme was the need for clarification of the “distribution material approval process”.

 

In an effort to move this policy consideration along in a timely manner Board Vice-President Barbara Lenta is coordinating efforts to bring about a policy revision. It is hoped that The Board will have a revised policy presented to them at its next Quarterly Meeting on October 23, 2008, 10:00 AM, Pinckney Hall.

 

A brief status report on the Wentworth Management contract negotiations was given by Board Secretary Clifford Hudsick. It was reported that the emphasis this week was both on ironing out the details of the benefits plans for employees and the transfer process so that implementation can be as seamless as possible.

 

The last item on the agenda was the discussion of two proposals regarding Board appointed committees. The first proposal was to align all committee terms to commence on January and end on December 31.  This move would also allow scheduling recruitment and interviews later in the fall, when more residents would be in residence. The second proposal discussed was the reduction in size of three committees, conversion of the Technology Committee to a Task Force and further review of the Resident Communication Committee function and goals as part of the development of an overall communications plan.

 

The Quarterly Board meeting is scheduled for October 23 at 10 AM and the next Board Workshop is scheduled for Thursday November 6, 2008, both in Pinckney Hall.
