Sun City Hilton Head Board of Directors Quarterly Meeting - October 23, 2008
New Director Chosen

Wesley A. Pipkin was unanimously selected to fill the vacant position on The Sun City Board of Directors. The search to fill the position vacated in April was completed this week after intensive interviews of four candidates for the Director position. Pipkin spent 30 years in the field of education and brings a wealth of experience to the Board. His involvement in Sun City activities includes the Tennis Association, Wood Workers Club and Chairman of the Fitness Advisory Committee.

According to Derek Morgan, President of the Board, Pipkin served six years as the Chairman of a community association in Georgia and will be a true asset to the Board. Wes and his wife Liz have lived in Sun City since 2004.

In other action the Board authorized a professional management agreement with Wentworth Property Management Corporation. Board Secretary Clifford Hudsick reported that the contract term is for three (3) years and will begin January 1, 2009. Representatives of Wentworth Management will soon begin meeting with the community’s staff so that the transfer process will be as seamless as possible.

One of the last items on the agenda included the appointment of over 50 residents to Board appointed committees for 2009. The Board accepted applications from interested residents; the committees conducted interviews and gave the Board a list of residents qualified to serve. Board Vice-President Barbara Lenta led a four-month effort to bring about the appointments as well as an additional resolution aimed at increasing the recruitment period next year.

The 2008 Annual Meeting of the Community Association is scheduled for 10:00 AM Monday November 17^th, 2008, in Pinckney Hall.
