2009 Budget Adopted
After a welcome and establishment of a quorum by Board President Derek Morgan the 2008 Annual Membership Meeting with almost 500 residents attending was called to order.
Tom Jackson, Treasurer, then explained that each year the membership of the Sun City Hilton Head Community Association, Inc. makes an election for tax purposes under IRS Revenue Ruling 70-604. A ‘yes’ vote signified agreement that any excess membership income should be applied to the membership 2009 assessments.
After a roll-call vote of Neighborhood Representatives and residents of Summerplace Village, the motion passed with a vote of 5627 “for” and no votes “against”.
Next the presentation of the 2009 Community Association Budget was made by Joel Spiegel, Assistant Treasurer and Finance Committee Chair. Committee members Al Burfeind, Bob Rasmussen, Bob Rubio, Ray Sisk and Barbara Turner voted to recommend the 2009 Budget to the Board of Directors. Residents expressed their appreciation for one of the community’s finest and most informative budget presentations.
The Board of Director’s 2009 Goals were presented by Board Vice-President Barbara Lenta. In 2009 the Board will focus on a limited number of goals that include Improving Communications, Engaging Wentworth Management and Continuing to Improve the Sun City Lifestyle.
Jon Cherry, Pulte Divisional President presented an Update of Developer plans. The Update included information about the opening of “Reflections”, the newest residential development on the north side of 278, as well as the planned opening of Magnolia Hall in January 2009. He also reviewed amenities added during the past year throughout Sun City.
Last on the agenda was the presentation of the Five Year Plan Update led by Bob Rasmussen and Joel Spiegel. The presentation reviewed the planning of reserve accounts.
Following the adjournment of the annual meeting the Board held a short special meeting at which it adopted both the 2009 Budget and accepted the Five Year Plan Update as recommended by the Finance Committee.
