Sun City timeline from the Del Webb/Pulte perspective July 10, 2000 -- Sun City Hilton Head fires longtime spokesman Glen McCaskey as part of a Del Webb restructuring. July 14, 2000 -- Del Webb sells 63 vacation villas used to give prospective Sun City buyers a place to stay, to Bluffton Ventures LLC for $8,475,000. Aug. 29, 2000 -- Del Webb obtains option agreements on land adjacent to the Village of Prairie Grove, northwest of Chicago, and considers building a country club community. Sept. 25, 2000 -- Del Webb says it received an offer from J.F. Shea Co. to be acquired for $30 a share. Nov. 2, 2000 -- J.F. Shea Co.'s attempt to elect three of its officials to the board of directors of the Del Webb is foiled. Dec. 6, 2000 -- Del Webb announces a new strategic plan, including the possibility of inviting area builders to help construct homes in Sun City Hilton Head. |
