On May 22, Lot owners (Members, one per Lot) will cast votes for three members of the Board of Directors (BOD) and several Neighborhood Representative (NR) and Alternate Neighborhood Representatives (ANR). The BOD candidates and several of the Neighborhood candidates do not have any opposition, and, therefore, there may be a feeling that casting a vote is not worth the effort.
But it is! The governing documents for Sun City Hilton Head require at least ten percent of the Lot owners participate in Neighborhood elections or the election is not considered valid and thus the candidate not elected.
The Election Committee has made the election process fast and easy. The ballots are in the May issue of SunSations and may be marked prior to coming to Pinckney Hall. In addition, ballots will be available at the Neighborhood and BOD voting tables. The time to enter Pinckney Hall, place a marked ballot and depart Pinckney Hall is less than three minutes. To improve the ease of voting, the traffic control team (Red Shirts) will mark off and control voter-designated parking in the Pinckney Hall parking lot for all Sun City voters. Regardless of the number of candidates on the ballot, it is important that each Lot owner cast a ballot.
Please remember that a Member must present an Activity Card associated with the Lot to the poll manager before being allowed to cast a ballot.
