Present – Juli Yale, chairwoman; Bob Rasmussen,   Marilyn Fletcher, Hal Meeks, Holly Field, Perry Molinaro. Absent –  Roland Faricy, Bea Boockholdt. CAM Liaison - Nikki Walsh. Board Liaison - Steve Koehl

Juli introduced Nikki Walsh, communications manager.

PublicationsNikki said that she and Holly have been correcting advertising problems with SunSations and that a new printer (Omega Graphics Direct) is being used starting with the April 2003 edition. An Orangeburg, S.C., printer had submitted a bid, but Omega got the job because of its proximity (Hilton Head) and price ($4,800). Quark software is being used for camera-ready pages. Paper stock and color usage will remain the same as before. Nikki’s main thrust has been getting SunSations on track; work involving TV and web site will come later. Holly said new people on the subcommittee are bringing new ideas for SunSations. She said revenue is up and people are calling to get advertising space. Ad rates have risen, but are lower than those at local publications. A monthly survey is planned to get residents’ feedback on SunSations.

BroadcastCAM and Del Webb have worked out an agreement with Davidson Cable to turn over Channels 51 and 52 for local broadcasting starting June 1. Resident activities, events, etc. will be broadcast on Ch. 50, bulletin board announcement on 51 and CAM information on 52. Also for Ch. 50: Bulletin board information will run when video programs are not available and the morning news reading will continue. A softball game will be aired at 5:15 p.m. April 1 and a game between residents and Del Webb employees will be taped for later viewing. Marilyn has submitted an article for the April SunSations detailing the channel changes. Marge Yanker will prepare a brochure for the Newcomers group about the channels.

Phone directoryBob said the book is at the printer’s on schedule. He has proofed maps and other information. The printer, Data Publishing (a subsidiary of Hargray Communications), and CAM split advertising revenue 50-50. This amounts to $30,000 to $40,000 for the administration office’s budget. The book will be delivered to homes in April. Bob’s Sun City map, showing all streets by location and name, is available at the main gate.

Newcomers – Bea was to send her report by e-mail to Juli and Perry, but neither had received it. Her data will then be combined with next month’s for the April meeting report.

Web site – Information on Steve K’s unofficial web site will be published in the April SunSations and on Ch. 50. Steve suggested putting the RCC report on his web site.
