Meeting minutes from Perry – 10 a.m. June 18, 2003, at logo
building.
Present – Juli Yale, chairwoman; Bob Rasmussen, Nikki Walsh, Marilyn Fletcher, Hal Meeks, Holly Field, Bea Boockholdt, Roland Faricy, Perry Molinaro. Absent –Steve Koehl.
Publications – Holly said revenue was more than $10,000 last month, that advertising is up and that new ads come in regularly to replace canceled ones. Nikki gets at least three calls a day about advertising in SunSations. She said rates are very competitive with other local publications. About 3,200 copies are printed each month. Bea suggested that SunSations be part of the newcomers information packet handed out by the CAM office. Nikki and Holly had discussed the idea of a vendor list for the publication, but learned that Steve Koehl plans to do this on his unofficial Web site. Holly said she was opposed to duplication of event publicity with fliers and SunSations articles having the same message.
Phone directory – Bob recommended that CAM move directory revenue to the Communication Department functions so all RCC financial transactions are shown in the Communication budget. He suggested that the phone book addendum be delivered with the September SunSations (he’s still working on the addendum) and said the directory publisher is thinking of a March rather than April publishing date for the next telephone directory edition.
Newcomers – Bea will suggest that CAM rename their coffees for newcomers to “orientations,” which describes them more accurately. April report – greeted 41 new residents from 43 homes and had three coffees for 41 attendees from 30 homes. May report – greeted 41 new residents from 24 homes and had one coffee with 10 attendees from seven homes. Bea said greeters will be asking new residents if they have radio-television and-or camera-video experience for working with Broadcast.
Broadcast – Marilyn said the channel changes went smoothly early this month. In clarifying the three-channel setup, she said Ch. 50 will carry CAM activities and ticket information when no videos are available, plus Charlie Mitchell’s “Between the Lines” show and the sunrise news readings. Ch. 51 will keep the club activity bulletin board format. Ch. 52 is CAM’s bulletin board. Chs. 50 & 52 are operated by CAM. People who auditioned for on-air talent have been asked to do interviews on their own. Bob said video programming would start once editing hardware and equipment for automatic program selections are working properly.
Web page – Nikki has met with Steve O’Donnell about updating the delwebblive site, but otherwise no progress has been made. Juli asked Nikki to clear with Steve O’Donnell that RCC suggest residents change their personal home page to Steve Koehl’s web site. This provides residents with a reminder and a quick review of the latest information of Sun City. Bob will provide instructions for such a change.
Next meeting – 10 a.m. Aug. 13 in logo building (none in July).
