Resident Communication Committee
4:00 p.m. Dec 8, 2004
Holly Field’s home.

Meeting minutes by Perry Molinaro.

Present – Marilyn Fletcher, chairwoman; Holly Field, Perry Molinaro, Joan Schmid, Bea Boockholdt, Bob Rasmussen, Ed Wiler, Richard Vetter, Al Reuben.

Absent: Steve Koehl, Debra Garner.

Newcomers. Bea’s November activity: Greeted 123 new residents from 71 homes and held three coffees with 87 attendees from 50 homes. She said the confusion over CAM’s referral to newcomers coffees will be corrected. Those will be called newcomers orientation.

Publications.  SunSations is up to 64 pages. The advertiser turnover rate is low, Holly said. Ad revenue collections continue to improve and only a few firms are delinquent. Marilyn has received a positive response from a CAM staffer about submitting late SunSations column. As suggested, she said she would write to another CAM staffer about the same problem. (He has since apologized for being late and promised to meet the deadline.)

Web site: In an e-mail, Steve said he had nothing new to report on the new Sun City Web site. He has done updates on his Web site for December listing community forum at Yahoo Group, lot information update through Dec. 5, Jerry McQuaid column, Gold Advisory minutes, Shalom Club Web site, history files updates, Channel 50 schedule updated, December calendars published, fitness center closing of Dec. 7, CAM early closing Dec. 3, Al Reuben column, fitness committee minutes. He also lists the first new members in the new Aviary neighborhood, recent action at the community Yahoo Group, Shalom Club has Web site, new historical material and 2005 budget. At Richard’s suggestion, Steve said he would place CAM forms as Adobe forms on www.schhca.org.

Phone directory and map: Bob and Richard were to meet Friday, Dec. 10, to make directory updates. The directory is on schedule for delivery this spring. The map will include the new Aviary neighborhood.

Broadcast.  An advertisement has been placed in local newspapers for a full-time programming-audiovisual specialist who would report to Richard Vetter. Richard hopes to have the position filled by Jan. 1. Joan said it’s still hard to find substitutes for the Saturday morning Sunrise Reader program. The broadcast schedule is running in SunSations.

Information map:  The next issue of the map will list the sponsor. The cost per map is 30 cents. The sales department has the maps and Bea suggested they be included in the newcomer packages. Al said he would talk with sales about what the department is doing with the maps.

Next meetings: 4 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 12, in the logo building; 4 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 9, in the logo building or at Hidden Cypress (if completed). Subsequent meetings will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesdays at Hidden Cypress.
