Okatie North Conference Room
Meeting minutes by Perry Molinaro.
Present – Marilyn Fletcher, chairwoman; Bob Rasmussen, Joan Schmid, Bea Boockholdt, Holly Field, Richard Vetter, Perry Molinaro. Absent: *Ed Wiler, Steve Koehl, Debra Garner, Al Reuben.
*Marilyn opened
the meeting and read from a letter from Ed Wiler that he has resigned from
the RCC (he is recovering from a broken hip).
Broadcast: Richard
said broadcast suggestions for the new Activities Building include
dedicated space for two rooms with increased power, controls, equipment,
video editing space, storage cabinets, etc. Richard would have office
space. Audio and lighting controls and video cameras would overlook the
auditorium from space above the rooms. A camera will be mounted in the
news reading room and carry the 10 a.m. Sunrise Reader program live. Joan
suggested that Ryan Nelson head a planning subcommittee that is awaiting
Bob Mahnke’s response. Bob would act as liaison. The three access
channels were off the air because of cable problems. Joan also said
Sunrise readers back the live broadcast idea. No one has agreed yet
to head broadcast subcommittee.
Publications: Richard said news of outside
clubs will be trimmed to save space. These clubs must have at least 25
members, with 60 percent from Sun City.
Newcomers: May activities: greeted 53 new
residents from 29 homes; held two coffees with 45 attendees from 25 homes.
Telephone directory and map: The cutoff for the supplement is
July 8; delivery will be in August. Bob said a new system would make
corrections to city names for the 2006 book. The street map has been
updated.
Web site: Richard said a meeting on a future
Web site was held with IntelliCommunites (unsure of spelling)
representatives May 25. No decisions were made.
Miscellaneous: Perry and Bob attended the
Strategic Planning briefing May 24 at Hidden Cypress. It was suggested
that board-appointed committees appoint members to brainstorm ideas for
Sun City needs. Richard showed the new logo for CAM letterheads, business
cards, etc.
RCC replacements: Six members’ terms expire
this year – Marilyn, Debbie, Perry, Bea, Holly and Joan. Marilyn needs
to know who will or will not seek reappointment.
Next meetings: 4 p.m. Wednesday, July 13, Aug.
10 and Sept. 14 at Hidden Cypress.
