Question 005
Tell me about mosquito spraying in Sun City.
Answer 005
Beaufort County Mosquito Control has a monitoring station at hole #17 on Okatie Creek. This station is surveyed twice a week, on Monday's and Thursday's. This along with how many telephone calls that they have received from the area dictates if the area is to be sprayed. There are no set times or days that they spray. Also, if the tides are high (spring tides) such as they have been lately, this will bring in more salt marsh mosquitos and they will spray in advance in anticipation of a large incoming population. If anyone calls to report a large population they will check out every single call. They said that a few mosquitos here and there, such as we have here, is not considered a problem. If you open your car door and about 100 mosquito's fly in then that's a problem. The telephone number is 846-3913.
