Question 006
When will the front gate be put back into automatic operation using the transponders?
Answer 006
The front gates were so slow, and resident complaints were so many, that the gates were disarmed a long time ago. We looked at the possibility of changing them out for the type used on the 170 gate...then came the volunteer security group. We postponed further action to evaluate the strength of the new program. With guards and greeters on the gate 24/7, it was subsequently felt that the transponder gate (@ 278) was redundant to the guard and greeter program, and would likely cause residents major consternation once they got used to the friendliness and expeditious access afforded by the gate greeters.
